Fifteen miles off the coast of Panama lies the ruins of an extremely haunted former penal colony and penitentiary. Most who worked there, escaped, or were released from Coiba moved to Santa Catalina Village. The penitentiary was said to be so severely haunted that prisoners were known to escape simply to get away from the torment of the ghosts.
Even the guards feared the ghosts of Coiba. One guard reportedly took his own life in front of prisoners (some of whom are still alive to this day) because of a horrifying interaction with a ghost. There are over thirty abandoned buildings on the island, including a chapel, and a graveyard.
It is said you will experience things from the moment you arrive; whether it be a matter of a large boa in your path, or odd sounds such as banging or even disembodied voices coming from the buildings.
Coiba is slowly being retaken by the jungle and is a dangerous and beautiful location.
