In Corrientes, Argentina there is a gnome-like, short, hairy creature that can impregnate women by touching their stomachs. To attract the Pombero, you leave rum, cigarettes, and honey out for the creature. They are thought to whistle in the jungle at night. There are many sightings in the Guarni Reservation; they say that the Pombero resembles a black doll about the size of the average seven-year-old that runs around with a cane and totally naked.
Like many similar cryptozoological creatures, the Pombero seems more fae-like in nature than akin to a known creature. However, with the depths of the jungle forests, countless creatures have yet to be discovered in our world. Though generally viewed as a harmless troublemaker that protects the birds from children, some of the legends surrounding the Pombero are brash enough that some missing children have been said to be taken by the Pombero.
