Deep in the Andes sitting above San Pedro de Casta, Peru, there is said to be a pre-Colonial Incan city. Locals avoid it entirely, the farmers have abandoned it, people see lights and hear odd sounds. There are rumors of tunnels full of gold, never to be sought after due to the haunting.
San Pedro de Casta being the nearest habitated city, it is a very rural city steep in the Andes. The haunted lost city is said to bring the voices of ghosts and chimes from a bell that no longer exists to those below it.
At 11,000′ in altitude, legend has it that the ghosts here guard the treasures of the Inca who lived and hid it there. Even animals will not get close to this abandoned place.
Known as Marcahuasi, this haunted and frankly haunting lost city is full of otherworldly features. The view is frankly stunning, and the rumors of the goings’ on up here have been told for decades in the extremely rugged village of San Pedro.
It’s said that there have been everything from strange lights, to UFOs, and from ghosts roaming the ruins to caves that it’s said you may enter but never leave– there’s a little bit of everything possible to experience here.
Now a bit of a popular camping area, you may find yourself less haunted by ghosts and more haunted by other explorers.
